Montana Trophy Outfitters elk hunts are done on private leased land. The areas we hunt have been managed for good bulls by our land owners for years. The hunts take place in September and October during the elk rut.
Trophy Bulls
The area around the Musselshell River that we hunt has long been famous for it's trophy quality big game due to limited access, biological trophy management and superb natural habitat. It is not uncommon to see bulls ranging from the 300+ mark with a chance at the 350 to even 400 inch bull! (See Elk Videos)
The terrain we hunt makes it possible for you to enjoy a hunt, even if you are limited in your physical abilities. This hunt can be as easy or as physically demanding as you want to make it. Most hunts however are done from the comfort of either a tree stand or a ground blind. Stand positions have been set up to ambush the elk leaving and entering the feeding areas.
Scent control maybe the most important part of getting an attempt at these monster elk. Wash your clothes in a scent elimitating laundry detergent, bring a scent eliminating spray and if you smoke, be prepared to leave them packed away for a few days. The thermal winds are your worst enemy and being as scent free as possible is a must.
We try and limit the number of hunters we take to ensure we have trophy bulls year after year. The best bull we have taken has been 394 4/8 gross.
