With our archery deer hunts you can harvest either a mule deer or a whitetail buck. The season starts at the same time as the elk hunts in early September and runs through the rifle deer season.
Early season deer in Eastern Montana are fairly easy to pattern. The deer move to feeding areas like clock work and our stands are set for an ideal 15-40 yard shot. Our food sources inlude several differet types of agriculural fields.
The bedding that the deer have are either along the Musselshell River or into the hills surrounding the property.
Whitetail Deer are especially easy to pattern this time of year. It is quite possible to see upwards of 200 deer an evening with several shooter bucks present.
If you hold out for your trophy, it is quite possible to get a crack at a deer in the 150+ range. The largest buck taken in 2009 was a 187????
Mule Deer are a little harder to pattern but you could easily see a shooter buck while waiting for a whitetail. Mule Deer can also be spot and stalked if this is what you choose to do.
